You know it. You’ve lived it. But can you explain it?


This is the Curse of Knowledge bias. It makes it hard to unravel and convert the knowledge in your mind into simple messaging others can consume.   

 

The result: disconnected descriptions, skipped steps, eclipsed context, and lots of confusion.

This blind spot is the gap between what you know, and what you convey.


It’s where communication breaks down. Where collaboration stalls. Where knowledge treasure unintentionally remains hidden.


It looks like this:


  • An exec speaks in “shorthand”—teams nod, then shrug.

  • A new system or strategy, a scant explanation—execution lags.

  • Assumed clarity and agreement—no alignment, no focus.

 

To shift from being a knowledge-holder to a knowledge-sharer:


  • Rewind to an “unknowing” state of mind: What context would you have needed?

  • Ask, don’t assume. Do listeners get it?

  • Translate the why—not just the what.

  • Use imagery to inspire, and to engage through emotion.  


The power of knowledge is in knowledge-sharing, not knowledge-holding.

Shared knowledge powers progress.


Knowledge sharers don’t just inform.

They connect, elevate, and transform.
